Rodgers, James Charles "Jimmie." b. 9/8/97, Meridian, Miss.; w. Carrie Cecil Williamson; d. Anita Court. Was railroad worker. Played guitar and had band known as Jimmy Rodgers Entertainers. Has been called: "Fa­ther of Commercial Hillbilly Music"; "The Singing Brakeman"; "America's Blue Yodeler"; and "The Father of Country Music." On WWNC, Asheville, N. C; and toured U. S. A.
